I really got into mini polishes lately. Today I’m showing you a mini set from OPI the Amazing Spiderman Collection that includes:
- Into the Night;
- Number One Nemesis;
- Just spotted the Lizard;
- Your Web or Mine?
Into the Night is a deep purplish blue with metallic finish. At first, I didn’t like it that much, but this nail polish really stands out in direct sunlight. Despite of the fact that Into the Night has a metallic finish, the polish is sheer. You will need 3 coats for the full opacity. On the other hand, it dries fast and doesn’t chip for couple of days.
Your Web or Mine? is the least favorite of all the set for me, personally. It is coral-pink metallic nail polish, definitely a pretty shade, but it doesn’t stand out for me. The quality of the polish is good, it is definitely more opaque than Into the Night, so 2 coats will give the needed color and coverage.
Number One Nemesis is beautiful steal grey nail polish with a hint of blue. It contains golden glitter dust that creates texture. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful shades in the entire collection. Strangely, it reminded me of Chanel Graphite. I will try to find it somewhere in my stash and compare these two J.
Just Spotted the Lizard is a golden-green-copper multi-chrome, very similar to Chanel Peridot. The quality is superb and application is flawless.
My small Fantasy Fire giveaway is now finished. Thank you all of you who participated and especially those lovely ladies who left comments and suggestions about the improvement of my blog. I promise to take it into consideration, so you will see some changes very soon.J
I’m pleased to announce the lucky winner of the giveaway. It is Kristina!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I’m planning to hold another small giveaway by the end of this month, so stay tuned J
This holographic nail polish is one of the older polishes I’ve got. Nevertheless, it is one of my favorite reds.
OPI Couture is a part of the OPI Designer Series collection. It is a linear red holographic nail polish with a hint of coral. It also has some peach and pink undertones.
The application is great and only 1-2 coats are needed for the full opacity. I think you can still find this polish on eBay or other website without any trouble for $8-$15.
As I will have a little bit more time this summer, I decided to do something fun. I love all kinds of prints, so I thought it would be interesting to try recreating some of them from the various runways shows and designer collections.
For my first nail art I have chosen the print from 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week by Australian designer Manning Cartell. I really liked how turquoise stripe is added to traditional black and white combination.
I used:
- A-England Galahad;
- Nails Inc. Black Taxi;
- NYC 134;
Overall, I like how it turned out. I should probably have used special Black nail polish for konading, because this one is not opaque enough. But it shows only on the pictures, in natural light it’s almost unnoticeable.
The name of this post speaks for itself – I have no idea what brand it is and what is the name of the color. Nevertheless, this magnetic polish is quite unique and magnificent!
Simple grey metallic magnetic polish in the bottle it looks completely different on the nails. Gorgeous purple base is revealed when the magnet is applied. It’s quite unexpected, because the in the bottle polish barely has any trace of purple.
Day Flower is a nail polish from the Priti NYC Turkish Sorbet collection. It’s a light lavender cream.
The application and formula of the nail polish is flawless. It is pigmented and non-streaky, but I would recommend using 2 coats anyways.
My obsession with Nerd Lacquer started from this nail polish. I fell in love with Don’t Blink and Event Horizon, but not enough to make the first purchase. It’s Just a Flesh Wound mesmerized me so much that I just had to get it. Unfortunately, from the entire order this is the only one that brokeL I was able to collect some of the polish in a mini bottle, but I think it will be enough for some time.
Nerd Lacquer It’s just a Flesh Wound is a black base with silver and red glitter of different sizes. The base is not sheer; it is more on opaque side, so the silver glitter appears slightly muted. For the effect you will see on the pictures I used 2 coats without a top coat.
I’m usually quite skeptical about the unrealistic promises of the companies to solve all you problems at once.
As you might suspect, I use a lot of the nail polish remover and usually I buy something like Sally Hansen in drug stores. I also have some more expensive brands like Scotch Naturals that do pretty much the same job, but for the higher price.
Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover was among my birthday presents. I wouldn’t buy it myself, only because I never thought it would be something special or even different from the other nail polish removers on the market.
I opened it, and it looks weird: piece of black foam with a hole in the middle. It made me even more skeptical.
I probably should not keep you waiting and tell you: It's MAGIC!!!!!
I love glitter nail polishes, but neither of the methods of their removal (foil, wet nail polish on top, etc.) worked well for me. With this product most stubborn glitter manicure is removed in less than 2 minutes.
1. I used a micro-glitter nail polish to show you how it works. You basically put your finger in the hole and wait for couple of seconds. I waited around 5 seconds, not more.
2. Surprise!!! Nail polish dissolved. I tried it with many nail polishes. Of course, cremes and jelly polishes without glitter disappear literally in a second. Glitters are more stubborn, but it still much better than all the painful time consuming methods of glitter removal.
3. Here you go. If you have "super-stubborn" glitter, a little bit of it will stay near the cuticles, but it is easily removable.
If you are intrigued enough to try Sephora nail polish remover you can check it out here. It retails for $9,50. It is on the pricier side and I don’t know how long it will last. I used it around 10-15 times with different kinds of nail polish textures and it works perfectly.
Here is the description form the Sephora website:
What it is formulated to do:
For even the most hard-to-remove nail polish, this nail polish remover effortlessly takes off lacquers. Inside the bottle, pre-moistened pleated foam eliminates the need for cotton balls. Its convenient size is perfect for travel and can be used without cotton pads.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan
Today I have a new Indie brand to show you, Aqua Daisy. You might have read about it before, but I just discovered it J
I ordered a mini version of the polish, because I did not know what to expect. Besides, I like the idea of mini polishes: you can try new stuff; the storage is easier and more efficient.
Succulent is a baby blue crème with fuchsia glitter. It is described as mint on Etsy, but too me it’s blue or at least combination of these two colors.
The formula is nice, application is non-streaky. The polish is on a thinner side, but it’s still opaque, so 2 coats are enough for the flawless effect.
You can buy AquaDaisy on Etsy here. Mini bottle costs $4.50 and the full-sized nail polish is $8.00.
I couldn’t pass by this nail polish, mostly because of the new fishnet magnet.
Spitafields is a metallic green magnetic nail polish. Nothing very special in particular for me personally. A lot of the brands came up with the more diverse color palette for magnetic polishes than Nails Inc. On the other hand, the quality of Nails Inc. magnetic polishes is superb. The application doesn’t require dark base, because the polish itself is opaque enough. 1 coat is all you need to get this effect.
Fishnet magnet is super cool, I haven’t seen similar patterns in any other magnetic polish collections. It is also surprisingly easy to work with. It is a little hard to photograph and in reality the effect looks much prettier and more defined than in these pictures.
Hi Ladies,
After looking for the close dupes of Chanel June I wasn’t able to find anything that in my opinion was similar. When you have more than 400 nail polishes, you become very picky in even subtle shade differences. Maybe it’s just my stubborn Taurus personality that makes me obsessed with one particular thing.
Chanel June is a light peach crème with a slight touch of coral. The formula is between jelly and crème. It is a little sheer, that’s why I used 3 coats. Other than that, application is good as always. The brush in this polish is narrow for me, but it is still easy to work with.
Galahad is my first A-England crème. I’m an absolute sucker for everything turquoise and teal, so I decided to get it.
A-England Galahad is a perfect turquoise crème nail polish. The formula is absolutely flawless. It’s on the thicker side without actually being thick and hard to apply. Galahad is opaque and 1 coat is enough, but I used 2 coats. It dries fast and the polish perfectly covers all imperfections like ridges, etc.
What can I say, Adina, A-England creator, surprises me again and again. I can’t wait to see her future collections.
I’m so upset that Nerd Lacquer disappeared from Etsy and no one heard anything from her lately. I hope she is fine and will return to the nail polish world sooner or later.
Beggar’s Canyon is a golden beige nail polish with a touch of mustard. It has golden, copper and violet glitter of different sizes and shapes.
This nail polish is on the classier side. Beggar’s Canyon is hard to photograph; it changes color from subtle sand beige to slightly shimmery golden beige. The application is great as always. I used 2 coats without any base color.
Hi Guys,
Sorry for being out of touch for the entire week. My final exams were much more stressful than I expected.
Striped manicure is yet another simple nail art with striping tape. This time I used orange tape and Butter London Minger as a base.
Today I’m showing you my small experiment with the triangle design incorporating crackle polish.
I used:
- L’oreal Night Owl
- Sally Hansen Antique Gold crackle polish
I’m not extremely excited about how it turned out. It was quite hard to make SH crackle nicely and uniformly. I think if I used a regular crème polish it would look better.
What do you think, girls?
Revlon Sorbet is a medium orange jelly. The fact that the texture is jelly makes it a little sheer and less neon. It’s a nice polish for summer. I especially like to use such bright colors on my toes J.
The formula is nice: it is not thick like many jelly polishes, but not runny as well. It dries extremely fast even without a top coat. I used 2 coats, but on some nails I still could see some sheer spots. The application is not streaky though.
Lambstail Cactus is a brown-black linear holographic nail polish. It looks brown indoors and almost black under natural sunlight. It has lots of gold shimmer that makes it different from the other dark holographic nail polishes on the market.
I thought it would be useful to compare Lambstail Cactus with some of the similar nail polishes I already have:
- OPI My Private Jet,
- Color Club Revvvolution,
- Golden Rose 118.
As you can see on the photos below, Priti NYC Lambstail Cactus is a pretty good dupe for My Private Jet. The only difference is that My Private Jet has multi-colored Holographic effect and Lambstail Cactus is on the warmer golden side. Revvvolution and GR118 are definitely blacker. But on the other hand, comparison in the direct sunlight doesn’t show that much difference between these four nail polishes.
